"A POSTMAN"

Introduction : A postman is a most familiar person in o society. He is a low-paid Govt. employee of the postal department. H. is welcomed by one and all everywhere and everytime.

His uniform : postman is known to us all for his traditional uniform. He usually puts on a khaki dress and carries a leather bag across his shoulder. He is seen to carry an umbrella with him during the rain and the summer.

His duty/responsibility : A postman performs a lot * of duties and leads a very busy life. He begins his daily life in the. morning and ends in the evening. He opens mail bags sorts out letters, parcels and other articles and seals them with date-stamps. He makes. his own bundles out of them. Then he goes out on his round. A village postman leads a more toilsome life than a town postman. A village postman goes on his beat twice or thrice a week. He comes to the market place on hat day and delivers letters, parcels, money orders etc to their addressees.

His importance : postman plays a very important part in our life. We eagerly wait for his arrival everyday. He brings news for us from our dear and near ones living far away from us. He carries both good news and bad news, He shares our weal and woe. He feels happy at our good news and feels sad at our bad news. He is a great friend of all and enemy of none. We cannot do without his services.

His character : postman is a man of admirable character. He is honest, dutiful, punctual and well-behaved .He is as regular as a clock. He performs his duties in åll weather-fair or foul. He is most responsible and faithful. He performs his duties through thick and thin and in weal and woe. He always keeps careful watch on the materials that he carries with him lest these might be lost or stolen. He is dear to all sections of people for his dedicated services. Even a child can instantly recognise him when he knocks at the door. It reminds us of the rhyme- "Postman, postman, don't be late, Pass the letter over the gate".

His pecuniary condition : A postman lives à very poor life. He can hardly make both ends meet with his small income. He always remains in want and poverty He is ill-paid, ill-fed, ill-clad and ill-housed. It pains him most. He should be given a good pay.

Conclusion: We cannot think of a civilized society without the services of a postman. We hope that our Govt would take immediate step to better his condition.
